SUMMARY:Conversational Italian Beginners (adults) - Registration required
DESCRIPTION:Conversational Italian at the Nahant Public Library \nThere are 3 levels currently being offered\, all led by Alessandro Massaro\, native speaker and trained language instructor. \n\nWednesdays from 2:30 – 4:30\, there are six participants at the beginning level. We use Volare by Domenico Mudugno and short stories to learn vocabulary\, grammar\, and pronunciation\, and practice listening\, reading and speaking. \nFridays from 2:30-3:00\, a family (2 children and 1 adult) come to learn Italian. We use songs\, short stories and fairy tales. This is an all-ages beginning level.\nFridays from 3:00 – 4:30\, we speak almost only Italian in this more advanced level group\, as we read Il Gattopardo by Tommaso Di Lampedusa. We also read other stories depending on participant interest.  \n\nAll groups are learning to play Scoppa\, an Italian card game. Conversations are the focus for all groups. \nThere is a recommended grammar textbook\, free and online\, which participants can use if they wish and bring their questions to the sessions. \nWe meet in the first room to the left upon entering the library.   \nIf you are interested in joining one of the 3 groups\, please leave your contact information at the front desk.  \nThanks for your interest!

SUMMARY:VIRTUAL: Burglary At The Louvre -- How Can Writers Top This?
DESCRIPTION:VIRTUAL: Burglary At The Louvre — How Can Writers Top This? \nWednesday Feb 25\, 7pm on zoom \nThe world is fascinated by the recent jewel robbery at the Louvre\, and so are the Curators of Crime\, mystery authors Connie Berry\, Lane Stone\, Nina Wachsman\, and M. A. Monnin. In this presentation\, the Curators of Crime will examine the public’s fascination with the recent burglary of Napoleonic jewels at the Louvre and discuss how as authors they have used the same elements in their books. They cover the crime itself\, the police investigation and their procedures for nailing the thieves\, the psychology and motives that prompt such a bold theft\, and how the intrinsic and historical value of the jewels make them targets and add to the public’s fear of their loss. This program is hosted by the Tewksury PUblic library and a multitude of other MA public libraries\, including the Nahant Public Library \nThis program will be recorded. All registrants will receive the recording via email within 48 hours of the program. Register HERE
