The Nahant Public Library presents the 1963 film, The Leopard directed by Luchino Visconti and starring Burt Lancaster as Don Fabrizio Corbera, Claudia Cardinale as Angelica Sedara and Alain Delon as Tancredi Falconeri based on the novel Il Gattopardo by Tomasi Di Lampedusa, published in 1958. We will learn about Italy in the 1860s through the eyes of Don Fabrizio Corbera, an aristocrat, as the aristocracy declines and the bourgeoisie rises. The most famous quotation from the novel is, “Se vogliamo che tutto rimanga come è, bisogna che tutto cambi. (Lampedusa 50) “If we want that everything remain as it is, it’s necessary that everything change.” These are Tancredi Falconeri’s words.
